Spring seems to be finally in the air! I don’t know about you but I am someone who loves the start of a new season, the weather starting to warm, the plants start to green and poke out of the ground. As the outside starts to turn color I wanted to brighten up inside the house with Spring colors as well. So I created this tulip wreath DIY tutorial to help add some Spring to my mantel.

Supplies Needed for Tulip Wreath DIY
- Faux tulip stems (I used a total of four bunches)
- Wreath ring
- Floral wire
- Wide ribbon
The first step to create this easy wreath is to buy some bunches of faux tulips. I am a huge fan of these faux silk bunches of tulips from Amazon. I have several bundles that I use around the house and they look very real. When these tulips come they will come tied together which is great if you will be putting them in a vase but for this project you will need to separate the tulip stems.

I chose to make this wreath using a two wire wreath ring although it was actually plastic. I have a large stash of wreath rings and this was the first one I grabbed. You could also make this using a grapevine base for the wreath or a simple one wire ring.

The tulip stems were too long to wrap on the wreath ring so I used wire cutters to trim tulips to just below the leaves.
I used floral wire to attach the tulip stems to the wire wreath. If you don’t use a wire ring like this one you could use a hot glue gun to attach to any other type of wreath, especially a grapevine one. At first I only ordered one bunch of each color of tulips but after they arrived and I got started on the wreath I knew that would not be enough to finish the wreath. In order to have enough tulips I ordered two more bunches of the tulip stems and used the extras in my Spring decor around the house.

Because I chose pink and white tulips I wanted to make it look like a random wreath so I sprinkled the pink tulips throughout the white. Before attaching the first stems I wrapped the wire around the frame so that it was secure. I also wanted to add a long piece of ribbon from where it will hang and I wanted to do this before attaching all the tulip stems. I wrapped this around the frame and used the floral wire on the first bunch of tulips to keep the ribbon in place.

After the ribbon was attached I started attaching all the tulip stems with floral wire by placing three stems on the frame and then wrapping the wire around before adding more stems. This continued around the entire wire ring and then I wrapped the wire so that it was secure and cut with some wire cutters.

Using the ribbon I attached earlier I created a bow and attached it at the top with some hot glue. I think this wreath would also look great with a burlap ribbon hanger and bow attached. As you can see from the picture below of the back of the wreath form I cut the final wire long enough so that it will wrap around several times and be secured in place.

Now this beautiful Spring tulip wreath is ready to hang on the front door or in my case on the mantel over our fireplace.

Other options to make this wreath different would be to use different colors of tulips or create a rainbow tulip wreath or even a wreath of just one color of tulips would be a great way to say Happy Spring!
