Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and what better way to get into the spirit of the holiday by creating an ice cream float with sparkling water. This is a fun holiday treat that as less sugar than if you use regular soda. I came up with this recipe because my kids don’t drink pop (or soda as some of you call it) very often but they love sparkling seltzer water. I decided to create a fun Valentine treat for them. This recipe can also be used for many other occasions during the year and would even make a great birthday treat.

I chose to use Sparkling Ice Black Cherry because of the color for Valentine’s Day but there are so many other flavors or brands out there that you could try. And my kids particularly love the sparking water ice brand. I chose to use vanilla ice cream as we usually have that on hand at all times and it is the best when using many different flavors.

We had pint sized glasses and due to our glass size I filled each glass with two small scoops of ice cream. Then it’s time to add the Sparkling Ice, I only used one bottle to make two drinks because there will be a lot of fizzing.

The next step is to slowly mix up your drink so the flavors combine. Just a note that if you try and mix it up really fast, the carbonation and the ice cream will cause it to foam and possibly overflow. So be aware of this and just slowly stir. This part was a fun activity for the kids to participate in, they used straws to stir and drink.

To make the drink a little more festive for the holiday we added some whipped cream and fun sprinkles! Another fun activity for the kids to do is to add on the sprinkles on top.

My kids devoured it right away. It was very good, and the water and ice cream make some super fun colors. This is a fun take on an ice cream float and I am looking forward to doing this on other occasions. I enjoyed using the Sparkling Ice as the sugar content is lower than soda but it still has the flavor and bubbliness. So it’s just a fun, treat for either after school, a special occasion, or a specific holiday. Enjoy.
