New Year’s Eve is one of those nights where food just feels extra important. It’s not just about filling plates—it’s about snacking, sharing, and treating yourself a little as the year winds down. Whether you’re hosting friends, hanging out with family, or keeping things low-key on the couch, the food you put out helps set the mood. From fun finger foods to dishes that feel lucky or comforting, New Year’s Eve is the perfect excuse to celebrate the past year with a cozy night, end the holiday season and welcome the next one with something delicious. We as a family usually spend New Year’s Eve with close friends and family and the adults sit and chat and hang out while the kids run around playing and having fun.
When planning a New Year’s party one thing I always want to make sure that the food whether I am hosting or we are going somewhere is easy to prep food that is a crowd-pleaser. As a kid every year for Christmas Eve my mom use to make stuffed mushrooms for our family gatherings. So now I like to make these type of foods for a New Year’s Eve party.
Other great foods for New Year’s Eve party are shrimp cocktail, cheese ball, Chex mix and bacon-wrapped scallops or even a brick of cream cheese covered with pepper jelly.

Stuffed mushrooms are one of those appetizers that look fancy but are surprisingly simple to make. They’re perfect for parties, holidays, or anytime you want a bite-sized snack that feels a little special. Let’s walk through it step by step so you can make them confidently, even if it’s your first time.
How to Make Stuffed Mushrooms
The first step to gather the simple ingredients needed to make the mushrooms. This includes either pre-packed or mushrooms that are loose in the produce department. I like to use button mushrooms as they are affordable and the perfect bite size, cremini mushrooms work well too.

In addition to mushrooms you will need breakfast sausage, bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, an egg, broth of your choice and butter.
The first step is to gently clean the mushrooms with a damp paper towel and carefully remove the stems. Set the caps aside in a 9×13 pan and finely chop the stems, I like to use my food processor for this—these will go right into the filling, so nothing goes to waste.

Next step is to make the filling by cooking the sausage until no longer pink and then drain off the grease. Combine the cooked sausage, chopped mushroom stems, one egg, one cup of breadcrumbs, half a cup of broth, a teaspoon of Italian seasoning and salt and pepper to taste.

Using a piping bag or even a ziplock bag with a corner cut out fill each mushroom cap, I like to fill mine to overflowing as to not waste any of the filling. Once all the caps are filled you will melt the butter and pour over the filled mushroom caps.

Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes until the mushroom caps are warmed through.
Let the mushrooms cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve them warm, and don’t be surprised if they disappear fast—stuffed mushrooms are always a hit!
