Fall is in the air. It’s the time of year where the weather changes to cooler temps, the leaves are changing and falling and that means breaking out the sweaters, drinking hot chocolate and making tomato soup and grilled cheese. Along with these aromas of Fall comes the indoor decor changing from flowers and sun to tones of brown, rust and copper. As you may know copper is one of my favorite items to collect. I love the rich and warm metallic color and I love to collect anything that is copper in color. Each year one of my favorite ways to use my collection is to decorate for Fall. If you are someone who loves copper decor as much as I do let me show you how to use copper decor for Fall decorating.
I’ve been collecting copper for many years now, acquired from thrift stores, garage sales and estate sales. Copper decor is easy to find in most thrift stores if you go frequently and are willing to dig around.
The metallic copper color is the perfect color for Fall. Last year I took my collection which includes many tart pans and jello molds and used penny nails in the mortar of our fireplace and hung the pans in a random assortment. I created a Fall mantel with the copper pieces that couldn’t be hung and then incorporated some faux pumpkins and dark purple florals. I love the look of the copper against the whitewashed bricks.

This year I added the copper collection to another collection of mine: milk glass. I arranged the copper pieces in random areas of my hutch where my milk glass collection is stored year round. Again I am drawn to the copper contrast against the white of the milk glass.

I like to incorporate some of my handmade signs and pumpkin decor to add to the seasonal decor. I especially love the look of white pumpkins with the copper accents next them.
Finding Copper Decor In Thrift Shops
Some of the most popular pieces of copper decor that I find in thrift stores are the different “jello” mold pieces. They usually come the shape of hearts or circles. I purchased a copper pot as part of an antique candle and then I also found a copper teapot at a thrift store. In addition to thrift shops you can also find lots of copper pieces at antique stores or the flea market.

The majority of my thrift store finds I have found in the kitchen or baking section of the thrift store. But don’t be afraid to do some digging if you need to.
Some of these copper pieces are vintage pieces and some are just old with no monetary value. For me I just love the look of copper colors and I am naturally drawn to it.

Copper Fall Decorating Ideas
In addition to using my copper collection for the fall season I also like to add touches of copper throughout the house. Several years ago I used an old picture frame and turned it into a rustic mirror and used spray paint to paint the frame copper.

In addition to searching thrift stores for copper pieces I like to look for any type of faux pumpkin, they can be the classic orange pumpkin or really any other color as long as it has a solid surface. I like to paint the pumpkins usually a light color and then use copper accents. I have a thrift store pumpkin that I used copper leaf on to create a copper pumpkin.
The color scheme I gravitate towards during the fall holiday season is usually coppers, browns, rusty reds and whites. I like to upcycle amber bottles to use for fall florals and also use my collection of vintage brass candlesticks to create a dining room tablescape.

Several year ago I used natural elements in my Fall tablescape that included little pumpkins from the garden and fallen leaves from our maple tree with initials on them as place cards. I think of re-creating this tablescape by also adding some copper accents using new copper silverware.
